This policy and guideline sets the standards for protecting the personal privacy of all people that use our online services resulting in personal information being stored on the Colorado Wireless Communities computer systems.

Adherence to this policy applies to all City employees, volunteers and contractors. Any one of these people working with or for the City are required to understand this policy and be able to explain it if asked by a member of the public regarding the “City’s Privacy Policy”.

Consequently, Colorado Wireless Community is committed to:

Communicating City information, and providing online self-services to the public.

Protecting the personal privacy of people who use our online services. 

By protecting online privacy, we are responsible for public trust, and expect to build the public’s confidence in the Colorado Wireless Communities online services available over the Internet. This also applies to all internal systems that retain personal information about the public.

 

This privacy policy informs about the types of information we may obtain, store and what happens to that information. The intent is to enable choice and control for constituents that are providing personal information.

 

Personal Information Provided

In general, you can visit us on the internet without telling us who you are or giving us personal information. There are times when we may need information from you, for instance: to process an order, to correspond, or  to provide a subscription. We may supplement this information to complete a transaction or to provide a better service.

You may choose at any time not to disclose personal information, without affecting your ability to visit other portions of the City websites or use other City services . However, we may not be able to provide you with the service that is dependent on that information.

 

You may choose to give us personal information in a variety of situations. For example, you may want to give us information, such as your name and address or e-mail id, to correspond with you and/or to register for updates. If you give us personal information about somebody else, such as a spouse, we will assume that you have their permission to do so.

When we collect information from you, you may tell us that you do not want it used for further contact and we will respect your wishes. You have the choice to register if you want to be contacted in the future.

 

Information Security and Integrity of Information

 

We intend to protect your personal information and to maintain its integrity or quality. We implement appropriate measures and processes, such as using encryption when transmitting certain sensitive information, to help us to keep your information secure.

Cyber-security assessments are performed on systems under our control, including identifying attempts to tamper with the web site which may lead to further investigative work, criminal prosecution or other legal proceedings.

 

Other Information Collected

 

We sometimes collect non-identifiable information from visits to our web sites to help us provide better customer service. Examples of other information include:

 

Date and time of visit

Type of web browser

Computer operating system used to access the site

Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) address of the individual computer or Internet Service Provider proxy server accessing the site

Uniform Resource Locator (URL) address of the previous web site from which you may have linked to the web site the City hosts.

 

This statistical information is used in aggregate form to manage and improve the web sites by analyzing overall usage and general trends among visits to the site. Typical benefits are web site navigation changes and overall web site performance (speed).

Use of Cookies to Collect Information

We collect the information we mentioned in the previous paragraphs through the use of various technologies, including one called "cookies". A cookie is a piece of data that a web site can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your computer as an anonymous tag that identifies your computer but not you. The cookie is used to better serve you during your visit or when you return to the web site.

You can set your browser to notify you before you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether to accept it. You can also set your browser to turn off cookies. If you do so, some online services may not be available or work properly.

 

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Colorado Wireless Communities will not sell, share or release personal information to any outside parties unless necessary to complete a service or transaction you have requested, or unless required to do so in connection with law enforcement investigations, valid requests under public information statutes (see "Public Records" below), or other legal proceedings. Sharing of personal information between City departments will be limited to only those employees necessary to respond to your request for service or to complete a transaction. Colorado Wireless Communities is committed to requesting only the minimum personal information necessary to complete an individual online transaction.

 

Colorado Wireless Communities will not use any personal information obtained via e-mail or web site for marketing of City programs and events, unless you have given us permission by marking a specific option to do so at the time you disclosed your personal information. If you choose to receive future marketing information from us, any electronic materials we send you will clearly give you the opportunity to tell us that you no longer want to receive similar information.

Colorado Wireless Communities will not send you unsolicited e-mail, such as surveys or advertising for upcoming events and programs, unless you have given us permission to do so, such as signing up for e-mail subscriptions through our web sites or by checking a specific option to receive future e-mail at the time you give us your e-mail address. We will respond in kind to e-mail correspondence or to other service requests where people have requested an e-mail response.

 

 If you receive unsolicited e-mail from Colorado Wireless Communities and you feel you have not given us permission to do so, please forward the e-mail message, with an explanation of your concerns, to .

 

Colorado Wireless Communities will require any partners we may have in joint web sites or who provide services through our web sites adhere to our privacy policies.

5)   Public Records

As a government entity, Colorado Wireless Communities is subject to public records laws. Be aware that information submitted via e-mail or through our websites may be subject to a public records request pursuant to the public records statutes.

 

7)   Non-City Web sites

The Colorado Wireless Communities web site provides links to other web sites that are not designed, or maintained by Colorado Wireless Communities. We are not responsible for these sites, which may have their own privacy policies. Visitors to such sites are advised to check their individual privacy policies and to be informed before providing personal information.
