Thornton

Foundation/History:

Incorporated in 1956, the community of Thornton was built by GI families who served in World War II and moved to Thornton seeking affordable housing. Early residents had homes with electricity and water, but little else. The Thornton Women's Club sold directories for $1 each that listing all residents in town. The money raised went toward purchasing an ambulance and a starting a library fund.
