Louisville
The City of Louisville, incorporated in 1882, was founded as a coal mining town. From there, we’ve grown to a vibrant and diverse city in which to live and work. In 2007, Money magazine listed Louisville as #3 overall and “Best in the West” on its annual “Best Places to Live” list, and in 2006, we were listed as number one in Best Places to Raise Your Family: The Top 100 Affordable Communities in the U.S. (Frommer's, $24.99).
Demographics/Amenities:
With our highly-educated population of 19,000 residents, authentic small town ambiance, and real estate prices a fraction of Boulder’s; Louisville boasts an exceptional quality of life. With Historic Downtown Louisville being the heart of the city, there are 100-year-old wooden buildings that are along Main and Front Streets. These astonishing buildings are home to well over 100 businesses; including restaurants, pubs, unique retail, and a wide variety of professional services. The Colorado Tech Center is located here, as well as our new 32,500 sq. ft. Public Library. Louisville enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine per year, which is a perfect reason to get outside and experience our more than 1,700 acres of parks and open space.
Location:
Located on the east edge of the Boulder Valley and featuring stunning views of the Flatirons and Indian Peaks, Louisville is 10 minutes from downtown Boulder and only 25 minutes from downtown Denver. The future of Historic Downtown includes a rail station on a commuter train line that will bring new visitors to Louisville and provide alternative transportation to both Denver and Boulder.
